惠譽-香港/新加坡/台北2009年8月5日：惠譽今日確認宏遠證券股份有限公司(宏遠證)評等如下: 國內長期評等‘BBB+(twn) ’，國內短期評等‘F2(twn) ’， 個別評等‘D’，支援評等‘5’。評等展望為‘穩定’。
宏遠證的評等反映該公司較小的營運規模以及相對集中的營收來源。此評等亦將其可接受的的資本以及改善但相對較弱的的流動性納入評等考量。宏遠證為擴展其手續費相關收入，在2009年與法國Edmond De Rothschild Asset Management合作，透過宏遠證的財富管理管道獨家銷售其共同基金。爲擴展分公司通路，宏遠證在2008年9月宣布併購小型券商豐銀證券 (約當2%宏遠證資產) 。此將於2009年底完成的併購將使宏遠證的分公司通路增加2個至11個分公司。
宏遠證爲因應疲弱的市場狀況，在2008年末降低其風險胃纳，並減少其風險較高的投資部位。該公司的投資部位在2009年第一季底相較於在2008年第一季高峰大幅下降。在2009年第一季底，其投資部位大多數為政府債券與投資等級的公司債券。來自於存續期間相對較短的債券部位的市場風險在可控制範圍。每100基本點殖利率的變化將對其股東權益產生2.6% 的影響。
宏遠證在2008年由於市場大幅的修正而產生虧損。該公司在2009年1-5月隨著市場的回復而達到稅前微幅獲利。然而，來自經紀業務的手續費收入因折讓率提升但市場交易量下滑而下降。惠譽認為宏遠證的2009年獲利仍將受到相對集中的交易活動所影響。
宏遠證資本在2008年底為可接受的251%。惠譽之前對台灣證券業所做的壓力測試顯示台灣的證券公司在艱困環境下，資本水準仍能維持良好。(請參閱2009年3月19日所出版評論‘台灣證券業者經壓力測試分析，資本緩衝仍維持令人滿意的水準’)雖然該公司對短期附買回融資的依賴仍是其流動性的主要弱點，隨著其在2008年以及2009年第一季投資部位的減少，對附買回融資的倚賴程度已經降低。此外，該公司來自於附買回融資的部分風險受到其抵押債券良好的品質所抵銷。
